Re: Whale or Dophin?

I also think they are dolphins.....That area around Mangrove Cay are far too shallow to accomodate any type of whales.

Re: Whale or Dophin?

Could be pilot whales, they are just slightly larger than dolphins and are really the missing link between "proper" whales and dolphins

Re: Whale or Dophin?

Neither....

Don't whales and dolphins have horizontal caudal (tail) fins. That one looks to be vertical. I'd say a fish... shark??

I think that's two animals swimming next to each other You can see the air hole on the aft dolphin (behind the first dorsal).

Not a shark. Sharks have triangular dorsal fins. Dolphins have crescent shaped dorsla fins as shown in the photo. Looks like a dolphin to me. How long was it?

Re: Whale or Dophin?

Look like Rizzo's dolphins, aka "grampus'", to me. Were the bodies grey/white on the big ones? Second guess would be pilot whales.

Re: Whale or Dophin ?

Wow, maybe it is just the perspective, but the one in the background appears to be several times larger than the two in the foreground, but there is no reference object to use for perspective. Was there a big difference in size?
