Under the boom on a cat (normally high enough for that!)
on the spinaker line or on the topping lift (with another rope to keep the line away from the mast).

We hang ours between the mast and the forestay. Your C 27 should be able to take the weight - the pounds on your mast/rigging in a good wind is much greater than your weight. As for knots, just remember, if you can't tie a knot - tie a lot.
