Question Venezuela or Offshore - Custom Bimini / Davits

Just finished the boat show">Miami boat show. What an expanse of boats and equipment! Enjoyed it immersurably.

While there I was inquiring about getting a bimini and davits built for my boat. After I got an approximate cost estimate and my wife revived me I thought maybe my convertable top is not that bad after all. But never one to give up so easily I thought I'd ask if anyone knew if it was possible to have a bimini/davits/solar panel rack constructed in say Venezuela? I heard things are considerably less expensive down that way.

Any ideas or sources will be appreciated.

Venezuela

Many things are made here. As good as Trinidad and in most case better price. I have mentioned in other posts the incredible prices, but if you are not here it is tough to get items at those rates.

Most of the work done here is custom. Labor is cheaper than dirt so most places spend labor building and fitting to each application. Two identical boats will have each peice made slightly different.

Because of low labor costs and not much money to build industries most are cottage type industries with low capital investments that are geared toward custom work. So very few things are mass produced and shipped out. Even here you have to oversee the work and ride the makers to get you finished to your satisfaction. ANd do even ask about a rush job. You do give up a lot for the cheap labor ragtes.

Bil;

Thanks, that is just the information I wanted. I wanted to determine whether it was worth taking the boat down to Venezuela verses having it done up here in Ft. Lauderdale. Seems like it is worth the trip, so I will make plans to come down after the Carribean huricane season.

Venezuela work

If you need any major work including gel coating, painting, varnishing, along with canvas and stainless work you can save a lot of money and get great work.

You can also have a great holiday while the work is being done. Venezuela has a lot of impressive sites. We did ANgel Falls the tallest falls in the world.

Afte last years huricane season it looks like it is safer down here. We will be staying south again to avoid FL for huricane season.

Let me know if you need more detail I will be happy to provide details.
