Reflagging US Vessel to UK, CE Marking Implications

I plan to purchase a US flagged vessel and register it under the UK flag (as I am a resident). This particular vessel is not CE exempt. I have no intention on sailing it to the UK, only within the EU and further afield.

I was wondering how this would affect VAT, CE marking requirements and insurance.

Its my understanding that VAT only needs to be paid if the vessel enters UK waters, so there would be no requirement to pay VAT if it were Temporarily Imported to the EU.

What I couldn't find any solid information on was the requirement for a CE marking. Is this only required if the vessel enters UK? If Temporarily Imported into the EU is there a requirement for a CE mark on a non-EU vessel?

Will insurance companies want to see CE certification?
