Customs and Picking up Visitor in St. Thomas

We will be picking up a visitor who will be flying into St. Thomas. He is a Canadian citizen which I assume should not be a problem but you never know. Are there any potential problems getting through customs because he will be joining us on the boat rather than staying at a hotel?
Thanks.

He will clear immigration at the airport, and there is no restriction on staying on your boat. I don't quite understand your concern about this unless you are travelling to another island - in which case just get clearance with Immigration and Customs.

US immigration will likely want an address for him, so be sure to give him one to put on the forms. This could be a marina, a friend, etc.

Good suggestion, Greenhand. They do like to note the address.

If you plan on heading to the BVI then make sure your visitor keeps his/her I-94 to use when returning to the USVI. Apart from that there should be no problems.-

Re: Customs and Picking up Visitor in St. Thomas

Thanks for the suggestions.
I read on the Cruisers and Sailors Forums that Crown Bay Marina is close to the airport. I know that the customs form you fill out before arriving asks where you are staying so he could put the marina on it if we are staying there.
Our boat is a Canadian registered boat so maybe having the registration number would be helpful as well.
We will be leaving for the BVI after this as some of you have mentioned.
The reason for my concern is that some Canadian friends had family meeting them in the western Caribbean and they were turned away at the airport customs because they were staying on a boat.

Thanks again to all.
