US source for 316 stainless screws, etc? Especially metric

I am on the US east coast and often find myself needing a replacement stainless part, often metric. Not surprisingly, hardware stores seem to all be 304 or non-specific. West Marine claims 316 but at least the hex-head bolt I was recently trying to source was marked A2-70 which I believe indicates 304.

I expect I could trust McMaster but even then I find metric to certainly not to be as well represented.

Where do you go in the US for small'ish quantities of reliable 316 stainless screws, cotter pins, etc? Bonus points for somewhere in the Boston area.

Thanks!
Harry

The Ace Hardware's from Rhode Island to Florida (At least along the shore) all carry 316.

Surprised McMaster isnt good for you, though I use SAE only. May want to try Fastenel. Its been a few years since i ordered from them and wasnt great but maybe times have changed.

Please post an update if you find what you're looking fot. .

I almost always succeed on Amazon. Even for exotics like black stainless steel fasteners etc.

Quality is surprisingly high.

Not sure I can see this as anything other than a comprehensive selection:

https://www.mcmaster.com/products/~/.../?s=316+metric

https://www.mcmaster.com/products/he...x-head-screws/

What is it you're trying to find that they don't have?

Yikes, I have seen all kinds of fakes from Amazon, but not bolts specifically. Plumbing fittings and ball bearings from Amazon = crapshoot, I would have thought bolts would be similar.

Misumi is good for metric, but I've never failed at McMaster. Bolt depot also good as mentioned.

Ive found search function on Amazon is impossible. Even using quotation marks for 316 search returns all sorts of nonsense. What's your secret? Use Google outside of Amazon?

All of the above, but also Fastenal

Metric A4-70

They have a reasonable selection of metric items (sometimes even in the local stores) in A4-70, which is reasonably close to 316.

Re: US source for 316 stainless screws, etc? Especially metric

Thanks! Lots of good suggestions. The specific part I have been trouble sourcing is an M6x14mm set screw in 316. McMaster offered lots of 316 metric in other screws, just not set screws. I also don't need 25-50 which I know there is a trade off of buying just a few vs bulk. BoltDepot is promising without freight being to outlandish for a small quantity. @Jedi suggested amazon which I was a little scared of but maybe worth trying. I can always return if I doubt the quality in both material and dimension.

Thanks again,
Harry

Another vote for boltdepot in Hingham. They have always gone above and beyond whith customer service, and I have always found what I needed, including silicone bronze hardware.

Mcmaster has M6 set screws in 316, in 12mm or 16mm but not 14mm.

A package of 10 or 25 screws is under $10 plus freight (typically $15 for a small package). I see this as a bargain and have difficulty imagining an application where a 14mm screw is called for where neither a 12mm or 16mm one can be substituted.

Help me out here, why doesn't this work for you?
