Synthetic Teack Deck

I'm hoping to get feedback: I'm having new decking put on in a couple of week and the marina wants to put on Teak Decking Systems teak. I've looked up Marine 2000; Permateak, and some others named in Practical Sailor. I've not seen any of these in real life so would like to hear from those of you who are using synthetic teak deck, what you like and what you don't like.
Thanks
Sail2

Re: Synthetic Teack Deck

Hi Sail2, I have personal experience with marinedeck2000, both in having it and laying it, very good! Only downside is price. By the looks of it you have read the Practical Sailor review already. There has been some previous posts on 'pretend teak', some threads are here:

Re: Synthetic Teack Deck

If we ever switch from teak to synthetic it will be Marinedeck 2000. We saw it at boat show">Miami Boat show on a cat and it was cool to the touch and felt nice under foot. It has sound and thermal dampening qualities unlike real and other pvc type teaks.

I have some areas with Plasteak. It gets extremely hot in the sun. Too hot for bare feet.

Re: Synthetic Teack Deck

2.5 years with Seacork in the cockpit and sugar scoop. We love it. Cooler in the sun and doesn't suck the heat out of your butt on cooler days.
We're trying it in the galley now and, so far so good. It has a higher cork content than Marine 2000 and not too hard to DIY.
We looked at lots of the plastic stuff and, although some of it looks nice, it is seriously too hot in the sun for bare feet.

Re: Synthetic Teack Deck

Hi all

We too like what the properties of cork decking have to offer v teak decking.

I only researched marinedeck 2000 as the only suitable cork decking product.

Thank you for mentioning SeaCork

Now I have two companies to invite to qoute

SeaCork and MarQuipt

regards
George
