Steel boat below waterline patch up

I used PPG Amerlock 400/2 below the waterline hull 2 part epoxy system ...so far so good. Problem is inevitable scratches/blisters. Buying the full part product for patch work, given short shelf life once the cans are opened is not practical. Is there any other paint that has a long shelf life for periodic patching. Epoxy Cop is the ablative I used overtop of the Amerlock. Thanks ...

Ppg/ameron products are excellent for this. I’ve used the amerlock system in our water tank specifically; but usually use a system on the exterior that starts with Ameron 240 high build followed by Amershield LPU on top. At least 2 coats of each, sprayed or rolled and tipped. Tough and extremely reliable.

For repairs, I have decanted the gallon cans into mason jars and used a little co2 to displace air when sealing. Works well- and I’ve had stuff last years this way.

How much shelf life are you looking for?

A few paint bush strokes over some scratches & blisters exposing bare steel. The coating needed would be minimum. I thought there would be a product for example even an epoxy paste to cover, over which would be my bottom ablative Epoxy Cop. To answer your question ... 3 - 4 yrs would be ball park.
