Change your diver. Every two weeks is very excessive, there is also another way of cleaning ablative that doesn’t use scrappers or pads. A lot of boats in Indian Harbour are being cleaned with compressed air. It doesn’t take the paint off

Yes, we do need that emoji- for the posts from all the scientists in here who don't know their a** from a hole in the ground when it comes to anti fouling paint, how it works or how to maintain it.

How does the paint "know" to not dry out in the can but then to dry when applied to the hull?

I'll go with CopperCoat, which does require a light sanding prior to re-launch. (But you knew that it can, that's why you asked for two.)

And then I'll add Baltoplate (not actual name), which I believe is the same.

No, that's not why I asked for two. Coppercoat is not a "paint" and doesn't qualify to be included here. It is a copper-loaded epoxy and works differently than traditional anti fouling paints. Apples and oranges.

Re: South Florida boats - How often are you cleaning your bottom / painting?

Wow. I lived in S Fl, Bahamas and Caribbean. I always scrubbed my own bottom. Twice a month! No no. I use to do once every maybe 6-8 wks as the bottom paint became less effective or of course before a passage. Now with global warming maybe it’s a lot worse that when I was there 20+ yrs ago. In NC now. Fowling not bad here at all. Chesapeake is bad too. I actually enjoyed scrubbing the bottom in warm clear waters. Good work out.
