Recommended gauge wire

What gauge wire is recommended between a charger and a battery.

The distance is 3'
The battery is a 27DC-2 with 96 amp hours
The charger is as shown.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Recommended gauge wire

I'd use 10 gauge but even 14 gauge would work for such a short distance and 15 amps.

Re: Recommended gauge wire

The quick answer is that at only 4 amps and 3 feet, even 16AGW will do.

Re: Recommended gauge wire

you don't need much for a 4 amp battery charger. 12 awg is more than enough. then you need the ring terminals for the battery etc.

Except the "quick" answer is wrong. The 4 amp fuse is for the AC INPUT, not the DC output!!

It's a 15 amp charger.

Re: Recommended gauge wire

Sorry. I was trying to read the scale, and thought it said 1-4 amps. I did think that was pretty small or a charger.

The quick answer is that at only 15 amps and three feet, even 14AWG will do.

Actuallly, at only three feet, 16AWG should give about a 3% voltage drop, and is not likely to be a problem.
