Re: Portlight spacer: epoxy in place or float?

Several Caliber owners confirmed having non thru bolted portlights on the FB group. Also, that leaks were an issue.

That said, I tried my hand at thru bolting, drilling new holes in the outer ring. My bad. Measured the holes inaccurately. Didn’t take into account the changing hole pattern with respect to distance from portlight.

So, I instead cleaned up the original opening, potted and redrilled all outer holes. Cleaned all surfaces as Compass Marine suggested. Then filled all gaps with butyl, clamped and waited for oozing of butyl, and slowly tightened screws on each side.

Hose to portlight....no leaks!
