Perkins 4.236 elektrical components

At the moment I am renovating a Colin Archer CA 40 from 1978.

A Perkins 4,236 machine is running on board.

In the area of the machine there are 2 components whose function I cannot explain. see attached pictures. Can someone help me? Thanks in advance

Re: Perkins 4.236 elektrical components

Hello tkeithlu, (is that your real name?)

thanks for your answer, but i am an amateur in electrics and my question is
why is a "voltage regulater" needed at this place. The voltage comes from the regulater in the alternater. Why is there an need for "regulatin" again.

best regards from germany, Rhineland

Re: Perkins 4.236 elektrical components

Hi Horst, unlike Tk...., I have no idea of the function of these boxes. I have the same engine and none of these boxes and I cannot recall any of these in the manual. So they must be aftermarket gadgets. If it is a voltage controller, than a very old one, never seen one of these on any boat.
If the bottom is is a fuse box, open it and check. Easy.

Otherwise check where the wires go to and report back gain.
