Help me find a fix for this keel bulge

I am looking to buy this boat from a local marina in MI. It is a C&C 40.
One issue that I am trying to prepare for is this bulge on the keel. It is roughly 3-4" and looks like its been there for a while. How can I fix it? What do you think is the cause of it? From my recent research I am guessing a keel bolt leak.

What about uploading a photo of the bulge? What sort of keel? Some detail would help

That crack extends the full length of the keel, and suggests that the entire keel is loose. I don't see impact damage. I would go first to the top of the keel bolts to is if they are less than torqued. I definitely would ask a surveyor to examine this situation before proceeding with purchase.

Having a seam along the top of the keel where it is attached to the keel stub of the hull is fairly normal. Having it weep water in multiple places like that is not. As Keith suggests, have it checked out.

Either frost damage or corrosion damage. I don't think that cast iron would deform as much as the bulge has without falling into bits, so, I just guess the keel is lead.

Get a surveyer or a good boatyard to judge on repairability before buying. The boat just might need a new keel.

Did you not like the answers you got the first time you posted this question?

If you keep asking, SOMEBODY will eventually give you the answer you want to hear so you can justify your decision.
