Re: Haulout-Ferroalquimar Cartagena Colombia

Hi Bill.

As I have mentioned here and on facebook (please go and look at the photos on facebook) This is not a yard/resort. There is no pool, and social life. It is, however a darned good place to get real work done, well done, and reasonably priced.

That being said, we were fully "plumbed in" while our boat was on the hard, and it was quite pleasant with air conditioning, and able to use our showers and heads. It would also be a good place to base yourself for land travel locally and also inland Colombia.

The marine growth in the waters around Cartagena is legendary, you will have barnacles on your anchor chain in two weeks, and if in a marina, the prop will be unusable after 2 - 3 weeks.

There are a few places to dock before hauling, and after, and usually they include this as a favor, as a "waiting" area.

Hope this helps.

Very helpful! Thanks. That is exactly the information I was after. I contacted the yard and will make a reservation.

Re: Haulout-Ferroalquimar Cartagena Colombia

I just received a quote from them for a bottom job on my Freedom 35. This is not a huge boat, so I was a little shocked to see it came in just under $2,900.00 and that did not include paint! The haulout alone was $979.12, so apparently prices have changed.

I just got a response from the General Manager at the yard after I queried your prices.

He told me it was.

Lift and splash, 2 travelift movements.

Chocking

5 days on the hard

Washdown

Sandpaper

Application of 2 coats of AF

Insurance

For 2.852.329 pesos ( US$ 935 )

Perhaps something was lost in translation...? The "Just under 2900" is in Colombian Pesos. Convert that to US$ and its under $950.00 Now add paint at $94.00 per gallon and you will be in the ballpark.

Re: Haulout-Ferroalquimar Cartagena Colombia

I stand corrected. Because of the $ sign, I inadvertently assumed the $2.852.32 was just that, dollars, and not Colombian pesos. My apologies for the confusion.

It's the Sigma agents, PPG. Jairo.Jaramillo@ppg.com

If you are in Ferroalquimar, speak to them, let them buy it on your behalf, better discount, and no tax.
