decommissioned head discharge seacock?

Since I'm replacing my head with a composting toilet, the old discharge thru hull will be unused. It doesn't leak, but will be a while before a haul out, so I want a safe and secure method to terminate the bronze seacock. Suggestions?

You cap put a cap on it, or just lock the seacock into the closed position.

Yeah... It doesn't have threads. Wondering what to cap it with?

Perhaps you could lock the seacock handle closed and put a tapered wooden plug in the inboard opening. You could even secure the plug with 5200 to make sure it does not go anywhere. If you really expect to remove the seacock completely and re-glass the through-hull position, you could even fill the inboard opening with 5200, before you insert the wooden plug. Just hope the composting toilet works out and you never need to re-open the seacock, because you will never do it!!

if you're really concerned, mix up some underwater setting epoxy and push it in the hole from the outside. i did that with some unused 'holes' and never bothered to take out the old fittings.

LOL. 5200? I think that's another thread. Don't tell anyone but I'm using 5200 to weld some components of the toilet. I did tap in a wooden plug, maybe I'll use the new toilet a couple months before squirting epoxy or 5200 tho

I have a good temporary solution (at least until my haulout). Expansion plug. Neoprene plug with bolt through available at the local hardware store. I'm replacing their cheap bolt and washer with SS.

you might want to reconsider removing that through hull, just in case the composting toilet doesn't work out....
