Looking for first hand experience with Coolteak.

Anyone have this installed or been on a boat with it installed?

Re: Coolteak

I have seen it. And there are pictures here and there on the internet as well.

To me, it looks fake. Ymmv.

Ann thx for your opinion. I have already decided to accept the "fake" look as trade off for reduced maintenance.

Reduced maintenance compared to what?

From what I've seen so far, these polymer based look-a-likes tend to last about 20 years, depending upon where you are.

Compare that to a real teak deck and I'm not sure you are getting reduced maintenance. Real teak decks -if you don't mind the grey oxidized surface - need the caulking redone in about that same time period (note caulking is also a polymer based material) but the teak itself will remain in excellent condition far longer.

Now, if you prefer your teak deck to not go grey and you want that varnished look, then yes, you will have less maintenance with this product.
