Only way to fix this back to original is to pull the ports and re-veneer the damaged section. Advanced DIY skill, or better when you get to a low labor cost area.

Or, as Simi says, paint it out. Will have to decide if that erodes value more than savings from paiting

Probably not a deal killer, but will seriously affect resale value.

Thanks all and will see if we can come to an agreement ref the price as the boat itself is very well equipped (new teak deck , parasailor, lots of engine work, decent fuel tanks etc) but just needs tidying.

So what is the term when you need to paint a epoxy covered surface with base paint and want to make sure it will not flake out? i.e. 200 grit sanding? Some swear at 320 gritIs not etching, as is not metal.

What about taking the windows out and then covering the wood with something like this:

As sat here in our current boat and realised we have something very similar on our top parts by the saloon windows.
