Build Spreadsheet

Has anyone come across a spreadsheet for a boat build or refit? I’m looking for one that details most of the items to outfit a boat like engines, sails, oven, water maker, winches, etc. Ive found a few related to maintenance but none from a builders point of view. This is for budgeting and material research. Thank you!!

Re: Build Spreadsheet

Building your own is likely to be the quickest route, in that the parts differ from another boat, particularly if you are planning a refit, and you will need to come up with a cost estimate for each. If you built an Excel speadsheet and then posted it here on the forum, I and I'm sure others would be willing to read it to see if you missed something.

Best wishes on your project.

Re: Build Spreadsheet

Before computers I went thru ~billion receipts.
It became apparent that ~10% of costs were in consumables.
Things like abrasive paper, solvents, masking tapes, brushes, paper buckets, materials for templates/patterns, drill bits, saw blades, gloves, etc. etc.
Doing jobs for hire or on my own boat brought home the need to keep track of the stuff that eats up a good chunk of change.

Re: Build Spreadsheet

The Dashew's put there books into PDF and have them for free on their website, https://setsail.com/free-books/.

The Offshore Cruising Encyclopedia(OCE) has quite a bit of information on building and contracting a boat. There is an example contract in the OCE in the back of the book. OCE would allow on to put together a spreadsheet of items needed for a boat.

Later,
Dan
