Which gasket is this?

Can you help identify this piece of rubbery gasket sticking out? It's under the head/block area (please forgive my lack of proper terminology).

Re: Which gasket is this?

Sorry, Yanmar 2gm20f. This is looking aft, behind/below the belts and above the pan. I. believe that hose is from the sea water pump into the block?

Re: Which gasket is this?

deblen: I've been going through my service and parts manual and can't find the seam that is pictured. And your links won't open.

I just googled yanmar ysm20fc & found those 3 links. They appear to be J20 sailboat help links. Don't know why they won't open for you.
I am not familiar enough with your model to id. the gasket from ur pics.
Someone will come along.

Re: Which gasket is this?

Is the circled area in this photo where the gasket is? I’m having a problem seeing where in this photo your protruding gasket lies.

Re: Which gasket is this?

Not all 2GM series have the same oilpan but here are two images that might help. There is a vertical drilling in the block that connects the suction tube bore to the oil pump and it’s got a threaded recessed plug exactly where that gasket is......... my suggestion is that the oilpan is on back to front but no big deal because the threaded blanking plug is loctite’d in place. Does the ledge on the engine block extend to where the gasket ends? If not , it indicates an earlier arrangement and that gasket tag is redundant. Click image for larger version

Re: Which gasket is this?

Is the question just what it’s called? An oil pan gasket. The lowest part of your engine is the oil pan, the oil pan gasket seals between it and the block. Looks like PN 124000-01751 according the first link posted above. If it isn’t leaking, probably don’t mess with it.

Also, is that JB weld or ungodly amounts of paint smeared all over the side of the oil pan?

Re: Which gasket is this?

It’s only really there to keep the dirt out of that hole.
