Westerbeke raw water pump. WTH?

Whos the engineer at Westerbeke who decided to design the impeller facing backwards so you Cant reach it? What a huge pain!

A lot of the smaller Yanmars are like that too. It's easier to just take the pump completely off, only two bolts and the hoses. Not familiar with the 'beke so I don't know if that would work.

Yep, that is the easiest way to do it on the Westerbeke. Not that it is easy.

I find on my W58 it’s easier and faster to remove the pump. It also gives me opportunity to fully inspect the belts…. No big deal but I have easy / good engine access.
