Volvo Penta 2003T to Beta 38

Hello members

We have a Hallberg-Rassy 352 with a VP 2003T (9000 hours) - after our cylinder head decided to leak coolant into the exhaust, I think it‘s time to upgrade. And we‘re thinking about the Beta 38.

Could anyone with experience tell me, what works will be involved? Apparently there should be no glassing work required? And I‘ve read somewhere, that a new shaft is required?

Thanks - Phil

Welcome to the forum. Maybe call Beta. I heard they are very knowledgeable and helpful. Another suggestion might be to join the Beta Facebook page.

Re: Volvo Penta 2003T to Beta 38

Hi Phil - your old Volvo probably has a 7 degree downangle transmission. Beta Marine can supply a new 7* downangle gear. They also offer optional engine mount brackets to directly replace the old Volvo with a Beta 30, 35 or 38. This makes the repower straightforward. Joe
