Perkins Fuel Leak 4-107

I have a perkins 4-107 and while it is running it leaks around the throttle lever on the fuel pump. I have removed the lever but find no gasket or o-ring. Should there be such a thing, or is the problem deep in the fuel pump?

If you are talking about the injection pump ...yes there are "o" rings on the throttle shaft & also the kill shaft. The cover must be removed to replace them. I HIGHLY recommend you have a professional do the job. ...don't ask how I know.

I agree, I had the same problem. The only resonable solution is to rebuild or replace. I purchased a rebuilt injector pump from S&W Diesle in Wilmington, CA for just under $600 with a core turn in. The improvement on my 4-107 was amazing.

The hard part for me was the reinstall. The shaft is splined and keyed, there is only one way for it to fit in. I had to use a mirror and flash light to get things lined up. 2 hours of minor adjustments before it just slid in. Let's just say I remebered my first high school girl friend when that happened. Make sure the timing marks are lined up and you will be good to go.

For the time and money, rebuilding yourself is not worth it.

Maddog.........I shipped my 4-108 pump to S&W from Honolulu for a rebuild after calling several places around the country. They could answer all my questions without hesitation which indicated to me they knew their stuff. I still order any parts I need from them & ship them in despite having a Perkins supplier here locally.

Ask for Bob. He always helps me. S&W also services industrial diesle engines, what they don't have, they can find or build. They milled a special coupling that will let have a remote oil filter that spins on. Best thing ever.
