Outboard Direct a.k.a Plateau Marine

I’m about to purchase a new Tohatsu 8hp 4 stroke outboard from Outboard Direct. Can anyone share their experience with this distributor - good or bad?

I bought up 5 hp Tohatsu from them 6 months ago via tohatsudirect.com. It arrived fast. There was the tiniest amount of cosmetic damage–little enough that it may have come from the factory that way.

The Tohatsu paperwork is written with the assumption that the dealer will do the initial testing of the engine. I performed the initial checks and filled out the paperwork myself, but I don't know whether or not Tohatsu will honor that if I wanted to make a warranty claim.

I haven't had any problems with the engine in the 5 hours I've run it.

Is there a difference between Outboard Direct and Tohatsu Direct?

I think they're the same. They both list the same address.
