Engine Under Cockpit Access Issues?

I am considering the purchase of a 1983 Beneteau First 38.

The engine is stuffed under the cockpit sole, which is removable, with the gearbox & shaft etc behind.

Does anyone here have a First 38 that can report on the difficulty (or otherwise) with engine & shaft access.

Is this a real issue or am I just perceiving one?

I would take a look to see how easy it would be to make your daily checks (oil, coolant, belts, strainer, etc, etc) to see if it is going to get old having to lift up the cockpit sole to make your checks every morning...

Re: Engine Under Cockpit Access Issues?

Sorry, I should have added, more detail.

There are small doors/panels that are accessible via the 1/4 berths for daily checks.

My question is in relation to the position and accessibility on a daily basis. Directed to those that have a First 38.
