Has anyone installed a new filler neck in their heat exchanger housing? Looks like I may be replacing the housing due to pitting causing leakage.
I have thought about either filling the corroded areas or possibly using larger thicker o-rings but would hate to see sea water mixing with the coolant.

Frequently the expansion tank or HE housing is aluminum and the coolant filler neck is brass, so the filler neck is installed with a thickened epoxyadhesive.
Raises the question of exactly what is pitted, and whether the same problem is in the rest of the tank. Pits can be cleaned and filled, but if the problem is extensive enough it may pay to be proactive about replacing things.
Stuck mine back in years ago with JB Weld. It was intended to be a temporary fix, but its held leak free and solid for years...so no reason to "fix" it.
I was thinking of fairing this end where the cap goes with the o-ring with something like JB weld, at least temporarily so I can get it hauled for bottom paint.
