Bukh DV20 impeller spin direction

So, I popped the impeller out to test the engine (I'm on dry land at low tide) and can't remember which way it spins? Can't find it in the manual. Thanks for any ideas.

As you are kneeling in front to the engine slipping the impeller onto the spindle the direction of rotation is CLOCKWISE.

One more, Justin:

Those things speak Danish - when I wuz a lad, that was the ONLY language they spoke.

But they make up for that by having a hand-crank starter. So if you are in doubt, or just to check my memory, before you begin to assemble the water pump, stick the handle on the dog and turn it a few degrees the way you would to start the engyne. The spindle should be seen to turn in the "running" direction.

Thanks, I'll try it out as I can't convince myself it's turning at all.

As far as the impeller is concerned, it doesn't matter which way the fins are bent when inserting it into the pump chamber. They will align themselves correctly on the first rotation of the pump.

It is important to ensure the input and output hoses are correctly fitted but this be obvious from the positioning of the existing hoses.

2 common failure modes (apart from a broken impeller fins) are a worn cover plate and a worn (thin) cam. Items 6 & 12 on page O5 of the manual as posted by deblen upthread (#2)
