Santander, Spain to Shoreham on Sea.. have a laugh..

So.. it seems things are getting a little serious on here so thought I'd lighten the mood..
At the moment I am sitting on a 26ft Heavenly Twins in Marina de Santander, N Spain.. reason..?
I am delivering it to Shoreham on Sea near Brighton on the UK's S Coast..
This involves crossing the Bay of Biscay to Ushant then a long run up the English Channel with lotsa big ships to play with..
Sorry.. no AIS.. but there's the challenge.. overlay my Spot and see how many can miss me..
The picture is of a sister ship I grab off the Web..
As several on my FB page have questioned my sanity over this trip I.. in my vanity.. figured some may be amused..

Yeah.. they get around a bit over this side of the Pond..
Got a bit to do like climb the mast today to install the running rigging.. put on the sails n stuff.. so it may be a day or two before I get going..

would genuinely like to help out even though i'm not too keen on your means of transport for that particular transit...

but am headed to southampton on friday, doing a couple days at the boat show, first time : am jumping-out-of-my-skin-super-happy!

and then headed down to marseille to work on the vagabond on the 18th for four days. am even more happy about this. you should see me with a jubilee clip! only wish i could get there more.

good man, are you fully committed to this delivery? i'm still not keen. if you are just-mostly-committed, please look the twins over really, really, really well and make sure every inch of her is completely, completely sound. i'm sure that, at 67, you can think of better ways to celebrate your birthday

Wolfie.. mast steps make life ever so simple for solo's..
As for 'My Gal' being up for sale.. just about every boat I've owned goes up for sale.. usually it two years before a buyer shows..
Apart from that she's more suited to someone who wants to do some serious cruising round the world.. I'm to busy doing that on other folks boats to do her justice.. a little Westerly Longbow would suit me better.. or maybe even a Centaur..
Waiting for the wind to ease to rig the sails.. supposed to have been light but gusting upto 20 up my butt..

The Westerly Longbow looks like a sweet boat. 31' seems like a nice size for a solo and/or couple, yet there's space for occasional guests. i read they sail well. The interiors i looked at were roomy and yet cozy. the galley set-up seemed ergonomic enough as well.

you know that my soul goes to the older model HC33T, so i'm not going to let my small pockets get in the way of true love, but i'd like your opinion on the Westward 35.

you could surely easily solo this boat. but what about the rest of us? and would you be temped by a boat like this? if not, i'd like to know why (once you get that wind off your bottom side, of course).

Not had any personal experience on one myself so not much use..
However.. Bob Perry is a well respected designer and his boats are usually well spoken off and sought after..
Looks well maintained and clean..
As for single handing.. once you set a boat up to suit you its not that hard.. the two headsails are furling.. and the main.. just reef down before you think you should and life's a lot easier.. and double reef the 1st time..

thanks for your perspective. i'm still too shy to solo, got get more experience, but it will come.

and yes, she looks clean and loved and perhaps quite loved. it is curious how this fine gal is so much less expensive than any HC out there (except for those couple of leaking-lost-souls in mexico) and even has all the gadgets.

what i fundamentally dislike in this WW (from my hope-to-live-aboard-perspective) is the galley set-up: looking into a wall while washing dishes always feels like punishment. in the HC, having the sinks look forward makes for good times somehow. am also not-so-fan-for the V-berth. there's nothing like the HC33 pullman. and then there's the shower! am saving the centimes indeed!

have you seen there is a 1981 HC up for grabs in Lisbon? way too expensive, of course for most and many, but she looks rather sweet.
