Replacement cushions

For those of you that replaced your cushions in your Catamatan... How much did it cost you? I know price varies based on size and number... Etc. If you could share your story, that would be great. I'm looking at a cat and trying to figure out how much to factor in for new cushions.

Re: Replacement cushions

Do you think it might be helpful to folks who are trying to answer your question to share the size of the boat and whether it's ALL the cushions or just the living area?

Re: Replacement cushions

Yes.... Sorry. It's a Lagoon 450 fly... And all the cushions... Inside and out... It's a lot of cushions. Hard to estimate unless we use a price per cushion figure?

Re: Replacement cushions

I'm not familiar with the boat that you are talking about but we are undertaking a DIY rebuild of our 2 6' settees. the foam sheets 4" thick 4'x8' pieces are over $125 US. and the Sunbrella fabric is running $35.00 a yard. it will probably cost us approx. $500 to replace the cushions and seat backs. I would think a total replacement on a 45 ft Cat could run into the tens of thousands. How handy are you on a sewing machine? Have an upholstery shop give you a quote, and then use it as bargaining power. Good luck!

Re: Replacement cushions

I would budget over 10k for that boat. Good marine canvas and cushions are very expensive. For our 42' ketch, custom v-berth, aft berth, and salon cushions set us back over $7k US at a shop on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

Did you have them made? Or did you do then yourself?

Oh, we had them made by the canvas shop. They came to our boat, measured, took pics etc. Then the finished cushions were ready in a few weeks.

EDIT: Diane at Carriage House Canvas in MD did ours. She was great to work with. Did beautiful work. Worth every penny. Highly recommend her.

Re: Replacement cushions

Boat repair guys always seem to think they're the only game in town.

We just got a quote for the two settees, and backs, for the dinette. One four foot settee, and one 6 foot settee. $3700 Cdn, which is probably around $2600US.

Though we're going with top of the line fabric and foam, the labour is the bulk of the cost. This fellow does mega yachts, and does do nice work...

Cheers.
Paul.

Re: Replacement cushions

$300/cushion is a good rule of thumb.
