PowerCat or SailCat - 40' to 44' Range

Thinking about options with and cost. How often should standing rigs wires be replaced and life of most sails before need to replace and cost.
PowerCat would have those cost but the fuel would be there. Some do
pretty good like the Manta 44 with their smaller engines. Some of the
Fontaine Pajot Catamaran have larger engines. Ive found the KitCat
Powercats 42 with outboards 4 strokes do pretty good.
Trying to weigh the advantages and cost of both ways.
Im planning to do some liveaboard while doing some work out on the water
on a new project using Sidescan sonar.

great question, most of it has to do with cost for range. Calculate at best you would get around 4 miles per gallon, so around $1 per gallon, but often less than that. OK, so the cost for sails for that size boat would be around $8000 easily, plus you'd be doing a bit of sailing. Most of the time you want a sailboat is for range, a powerboat for ease and speed. Most power cats of that size wouldn't be able to do an ocean crossing for lack of range.
