NW Multihull Assn Nov 7 Zoom & In Person Mtg Seattle Maritime Emergency Preparedness

Greetings, multihullers!

Our Northwest Multihull Association meeting in Seattle and on Zoom on November 7 will feature a presentation by Captain Tami Allen, centering on emergency preparedness, and the role boaters can play. Tami will speak to community preparedness for things like tsunamis and quakes - how to fight fatalism with love. (Tami is not your typical bunker dwelling prepper!)

Tami recently retired as harbor master from the Bainbridge police department. She currently sails a 2009 Telstar trimaran, and has trailer sailed way up into Canada. Her prior boat was a 50 foot gaff cutter, so you could say she has a really wide sailing experience.

Tami has a most interesting and varied background, including serving as an oil spill incident commander for the Washington state, Maritime co-op, sailing instructor, Cajun fiddler, and volunteer co-lead of the Bainbridge Prepares Citizens Flotilla, which aims to connect boaters with public emergency response agencies. Tami holds a 100T Master’s license, and an AB License.

The November 7 meeting will be held at our usual meeting place: Puget Sound Yacht Club, at 2321 North Northlake Way, in Seattle. The meeting begins with a potluck at 6:15 PM. We will have a brief business meeting at seven, and will start the presentation by 7:20. The business meeting will include a call for volunteers to serve as club officers, and a brief discussion regarding our own Joe D.'s proposal for the establishment of a NWMA "race track" (a specified course that you can do any time and share your course and time with other club members).

The presentation will be streamed on zoom. The link is below:
