Lavezzi 40 vs Lipari 41

Dear fellow sailors.

What is the main difference in sailing abilities between Lavezzi and Lipari?

Is the hulldimension, sailarray, masthight and weight the same or near the same?

I can see, that there is a minor difference in the bow and mast design.

Thx PerAlot

Absolutely no difference in the hulls what so ever, came out of the same mould.

The Lipari is much heavier and the hulls beamier to carry that. Whether the square topped main restores some or all of that performance loss in light winds I leave to those who have sailed both

I've sailed both. I didn't see major difference in between in terms of performance but Lavezzi seemed to be slightly faster.Obviously, Lipari is newer model and is more ergonomic, better orgonised in terms of utilisation of available spaces.
If you decide to buy the Lavezzi, check well the osmosis issue, almost all of them have had this problem.

Cheers

Thanks

I'm aware of the osmosis issue. I'm dealing with the problem on my own monohull.

I'd like the Lipari with hardtop bimini and more squared interior, but my wallet and my performance heart lean to the Lavezzi.

Cheers

I personally think the Lipari is a significantly better boat than the Lavezzi. The Lavezzi's always felt kind of cheap to me.

Thats the evolution from an old to a newer model.

I was interrested in the difference and why and where the difference is in the two models performances.

On paper, there is a difference in weight.
But is there a weight difference in real life?
Is there a difference in eg. masthight (standing rigging), sailsarray and hullshape, that can explain the difference in performances?

On pictures, I can se a slightly difference in the shape of the bows, so the Lipari can’t be from the same mold as the Lavezzi.

Cheers

I can't speak to the Lavezzi, but I did charter a Lipari from Yeloya for 10 days in Marmaris.

We thought it a very comfortable yacht which sailed quite nice with it's square top main.

Look up the specs on multihulldynamics.com, they show the Lavezzi being a better performer.

Re: Lavezzi 40 vs Lipari 41

When the Lipari came out, I seriously looked at moving from my Lavezzi to a new boat. For the two of us, and occasional two visitors, the Lavezzi has enough living space, but the Lipari was a bit more modern and "lagoonish". My wife hates the looks of Lagoons, so that ended being a minus for Lipari. It is a bit bulkier and heavier (and it has gotten even worse with the Lucia). Catamarans are not pretty, but they are getting worse. So, if you are two adults and two kids and don't mind an older boat...
As for osmosis, there is lot written about it on Lavezzis. My experience: our boat is a 2005, I should have been a victim. Only once when we pulled it out did we have a few blisters, repaired seven years ago and never again. On my previous monohull, I had more craters than the moon.
So, if you can afford a Lipari, it will be a newer boat, which is good. If it is heavier, put less load on it and go for one with the engine upgrade.
