Herreshoff h-28

Does anybody have any idea what one might expect from a Herreshoff 28 selling for 7800? The boat is a 1959 in Wisconsin. Is that a fair price, or way below value and most likely a basket case?

Just saw one if fair shape without an inboard go for $3000 in Eddyville, KY on eBay. It was a Fiberglass hull. The one you mention is probably wood?

This may be a great boat, she's been in fresh water all her life which is great for everything above the water line but can cause problems for a wooden hull. If the hull planking is in good shape you may have a real deal here. She comes with a dual axle trailer - just that alone is worth something. I would take a serious look at this boat if I were in the market for something this size.

I saw the ad for that boat. If you haven't already purchased her, DO IT! If she is as beautiful inside as she is out, and I'll bet she is, she will be exquisite. She is probably made of teak, oak and mahogony. Not many sailing vessels are as outstanding as an H28. Not many H28's have an ice box. Mine was electric. You need to board her and you'll fall in love. I have seen them for sale in New Zealand for $26K. You'll have to check with the experts on taking her from fresh to salt if that is your desire. I'm a llittle jealous. I'll have another someday. Happy sailing. Lisa P.S. The "doghouse" (where the galley is located)allows a man 5'10" in boots to stand erect and comfortable.
