Re: Gemini Legacy 35 & Seawind 1160 CE class?

I couldn't find anything on a separate CE category for commercial.

The boat is being sailed by a blogging couple in Europe right now. It has nothing to do with the charter company who took that video. They were just there.

However Maybe the couple who owns the boat might want to do charters in the future. Who knows.

Makes me wonder if the requirements for "A" in EU are stricker.

Still, shouldn't there be a line for 'A' as well then - like A max 6 or something?

I would find it very interesting if this boat were not considered as A class in EU. Maybe a broker in EU would be kind enough to enlighen us all.

Re: Gemini Legacy 35 & Seawind 1160 CE class?

CE is actually a EU certification, so my theory of EU having stricker rules kinda ludicrious. So... How come a 1160 sold in TX has CE A certification while a 1260 sold to EU only carries upto B CE certificiation?
Maybe I should just buy a Catalina 315... Very confusing...

Nope - it depends on what commercial certification you choose. All the seawinds are CE A class, all of them. But for commercial use, you may need to fit different items and extras dependent on location and PAX loading.

Although, I don't read any CE on the plate, which would be normal as it was sold in the USA I assume.

Re: Gemini Legacy 35 & Seawind 1160 CE class?

In the light of this comment's responses, I believe Oceanis 38.1 is safer than both legacy 35 and 1160 Lite. I'm still learning, so my mind, sure, will change a lot in time, but if I had to make decision as of today, I'd choose a 38.1 over 35 and 1160; the cheapest catamaran I would buy would be a Lagoon 40. If a Lagoon 40's life time ownership costs cloud be afforded, then it would be a good option. If one could only afford 35 or 1160 - and safety is a concern - , then 38.1 would the way to go for that budget.
