Max weight in tons: Travelift 200 tons

Re: Catamaran Haul-Out Marinas

I have posted an updated list of wide beam haul out facilities in North and South America, North and South Pacific, Europe, and Asia on a blog site. This has been requested several times in various threads.

See Torrmundi - Wide Beam Haulouts.

Several years ago, I used Cotemar's and Ziptie's lists as a starting point and have added many myself or by suggestion in various threads on Cruisersforum. Many thanks to all who've identified good facilities!

Thanks, Torrmundi,
I remember when Mark (Cotemar) began the list. I think he’d just moved from his Lucia to a Helia, but I’ve not seen him online; I hope he’s out cruising.
We just sold our L450F but hope to downsize to another cat so the listing is valuable, nonetheless.

Note: the Georgetown Yacht Basin, up the Sassafras on the Chesapeake Bay is/was either sold or held by the bank, so folks should call in advance to verify that it’s open.

Re: Catamaran Haul-Out Marinas

I just hauled out two days ago, for a survey of the hull bottoms in Caraquet, New Brunswick, Canada.

They have a 300 tonne lift, which looks like it's about 30 feet wide. GRIT is 25 feet wide, and had several feet to spare.

https://www2.gnb.ca/content/gnb/en/d...e_centres.html

We hauled out and sat in the slings for 30 minutes, and went back in. The quote was to haul out for an hour, and drop back in, and was for $360 (Three hundred and Sixty dollars CAD). I haven't received the bill (which comes in the mail, on paper!) and we have to pay by cheque (remember those?), in the mail; but other than taxes, I'd be surprised if they added any padding to the bill. They seemed quite honest, and were very helpful. I can't say enough about how nice the yard staff is. The contact's name is Jean, and he was very patient with my many questions, and trying to time the surveyor, who lives 3 hours away with the haulout. He also understands weather (we're 150 miles away) and sailing on a schedule.

I don't know their storage rates, nor much else about them. But there's a 200 tonne travel lift 12 miles away in Shippagan, which is run by the same company, and reportedly has the same fees.

https://marinas.com/view/marina/d9c5...agan_NB_Canada

It's certainly the most affordable haulout I've ever had, assuming the bill matches the quote.

I didn't take any photos, but perhaps the surveyor has one of the boat in the slings, if he does, I'll post it here.

Cheers.
Paul.

Re: Catamaran Haul-Out Marinas

Bridge Port Boat Works
Bridgeport, CT
75MT, 200MT, and 700MT travel lifts. Should be able to handle any size

Captains Cove Seaport
Bridgeport, CT
Easily fit our 23.3ft beam

St Augustine Marine Center
St Augustine, FL
Easily fit our 23.3ft beam in travel lift. Also have a trailer for larger boats. However, we saw an FP get lifted from underneath and it buckled some of their cabinets. Seems some cats are not meant to be lifted by the bridge deck?

Portland Yacht Services
Portland, ME
300MT travel lift. Should be able to handle 98% of cats

When we were up that way about three weeks ago, Georgetown Yacht Basin was being auctioned off the next day.

Wasn't around to hear what happened

I'm updating Bridgeport Boat Works for the new travelift, and am adding Captain's Cove. I already had St A. and Portland.

Yes, I saw a FP cat get holed underneath with a trailer at Pier Seven. The glass in that area was only about 3/8 thick and not reinforced in any way.

Thanks BistroMath!

Re: Catamaran Haul-Out Marinas

I forgot to update my comments on this thread.

My haulout bill came, and the total was $328.90 CAD. How refreshing.

Cheers.
Paul.
