Anyone Know What Happened to Imagines Boat?

Last I heard it was in Panama. Just curious. For those who are not familiar.....Imagine2Frolic (John) was a prolific poster who passed away recently after a tough time with cancer.

You might want to contact board member RTB. I believe he is in contact with Melanie every now and then and has some information on Johns boat.

Very sorry to hear about John. I've been away from the site for a few months and missed the notice of his passing. We'll miss him.

Oh shoot, when did that happen? I was not aware... I had exchanged some PM's with him, and he was quite helpful.

I am glad he was able to spend a significant amount of his last days doing what he loved.

Re: Anyone know what happened to Imagines boat?

I received this email from Mel a few weeks ago. I sent her a reply, but haven't heard back from her -

Greetings from Panama!

I am having a short visit here to check Imagine if she still afloat! well....we know sometimes if the boat is abandone, mysterious things happen. Anyhow there are some interest on Imagine and I am meeting with a prospective buyer here and I am not sure if we can materialize a sale. However, Imagine has ongoing issues that needed to be addressed. If the boat gets sold, I will send you the satellite phone. John already told me that belongs to you. He got bunch of books here and some boating materials too which I have to go over with and send back to USA that doesnt needed to be in the boat.

If Imagine dont get sold this year, I am looking for someone to finance it to get it back to USA. Ian the south african guy that supposed to go with us will captain the boat for free but he has to hauled his boat to get it done while onboard with Imagine. ITs way cheaper here to get her hauled and get it together. I am hoping that one of my friends will agree to a profit of $35,000 to 40,000 to her investment of $20k to get the boat back here in USA. If we get lucky she gets sold right after delivery.

So much thoughts, I am recalculating and hybernating...tomorrow I am going to see Imagine it would be tough but John will be happy that Im back.

How are you kids doing.....drop me a line.

I am also very sad to learn of John's passing. I just hope he did not suffer too much. Hoping good things for Melanie, it was pretty obvious they were very happy together.

Re: Anyone Know What Happened to Imagines Boat?

I received an email from Melanie, and she asked me to help get the word out that Imagine is for sale. Sailing with Cancer- One Man's race against time!

I am waiting for a reply, asking for more information. I do know that she is a motivated seller, and sure the price will be very attractive. Please send her an email if interested. I'll post more if I have more info.

I will say that I spent a month on the boat with John and Mel travelling from Florida to Colombia, so I do know a bit about the boat myself. I can say that she is a very seaworthy catamaran.
