Weatsail 32 question.

I have been looking at some west sail 32's on line and from my understanding they don't have showers. Is there any way to put s shower nozzle in there or am I crazy?

Most smaller boats do not have a separate shower stall. Common arrangements are to shower in the bathroom with a shower curtain hanging around you in a circle. This manages to keep some of the water off the sink, toilet and bathroom counters but isn't really a great solution. Most people just shower in the cockpit. Great in warm areas but not too comfortable in cold weather. Also better at anchor but at the dock it tends to entertain the tourists.

I choose not to have the shower arrangement like a lot of boats do. I've gotten pretty good at sponge baths. I've also added a large deep sink and a long, flexible spigot for washing my hair. At anchor, it's cockpit showering.

Tourist entertainment, I like that.

We pulled the shower out of our head compartment. It was causing all sorts of rot that I repaired when we bought the boat.

Now we shower in the cockpit.

Yes, showering in the head in addition to getting everything wet (like the toilet paper) causes mold, mildew, rot and general annoyance. Much prefer the cockpit in warm weather. However, my current boat has an actual shower stall. Love it and do not begrudge the space it takes at all.

Westsail 32s do have a built in shower, designed into the boat.

These responses are a nuisance.

The shower is in the passageway at the head/hanging locker area. Drain is molded into the floor pan. Get a shower track that can be ,bent to make 360 degree coverage for shower curtain.

Depends on the Westsail, they came in many forms, factory finished, bare hulls, semi-finished, etc, etc.
The only one I've had was bought to flip, it was bought as a finished hull then the interior was finished by the Swede shipwright who bought it. He didn't believe in showering much while living shoreside so he didn't put much thought into a adding a shower stall. Otherwise the interior was well thought out, maybe he was planning on sailing in warmer waters? It did have 150 gallons of water tankage though.
The head was large enough though to put a shower curtain on a circular shower rail and add a shower head to the sink fixture so it could be sold.
I've only seen a couple owner finished examples so I couldn't comment on the factory models.
He did do a beautiful job on the interior though, the finish work was impressive and well laid out. Good at sea boat.

Probably should have said depends on which Westsail. The early boats with the wood floors probably don't have a shower sump. When they went to a fiberglass floor plan/sole the passage way sump was in the mold. Don't know the exact number but well before our hull #163 laid up in early '74. I did a little free lanceing for Westsail from '74 to '76 while building our boat till we left for SoPac. All the boats during that period had the passageway shower sump. It was about the only place for a shower so assume the factory never changed the sump location till the end of production.
