The ribbon on my flugate somehow broke. I bought what was suppose to be a replacement online and it looked like the same thing but I get no control on the steering.
I dont use interfacing or any other components. I just use it in a most basic way. lock the steering when it is f lat on a passage and hope it goes the way you pointed. It is not worth 1500 or more for a new unit to do the same thing.
Does anyone have an old but working unit? parts? or know what the start up was unsuccesful? perhaps there are other steps when changing compasses.
Repair shop would be good too but cant find that either. auggg

I have a couple of old units in a box at a consignment shop in Rock Hall, MD.

Give them a call, should be dirt cheap now.
