Reedy Island Entrance and Anchorage

I’m trying to find updated information on entering and anchoring on the west side of Reedy Island after exiting the east end of the C & D Canal while waiting for a favorable wind and current to Cape May. I would probably plan on spending the night. I’m concerned about shoaling and as soon as I make turn. My boat draws 5 1/2 feet and the Navionics chart shows 6.8 ft if reliable.

Also any thoughts on turning north and anchoring on the Delaware River. I’ve read some reports of anchors fouling at that location but it’s difficult to tell how much of a problem that is.

I appreciate any advice and suggestions.

Anchored at Reedy 2 weeks ago, entrance well marked and lots of water. Very open to southerlies and northerlies. We had a very rough night there with northely winds.

Re: Reedy Island Entrance and Anchorage

There’s another thread entitled Chesapeake and Delaware Canal where there is a lot of information.
