The white was not my first choice, but the guy said "I already got this material from another boat job so I can make you a great deal on it!" Now that I have it I like it too, it looks really nice in there now, and I often have it covered with some other blanket or something anyway

If you really have extra wood for the anchor locker, sure, I'd love it, but don't worry, if not. I am pretty sure they used the same template for all the cut-outs, it looks the same to my eye anyway. So you can inlay the name of my boat in ebony right?

Now that I look at it again, it looks like your opening is bigger than mine. Let's hold off and I'll make a template for mine. I have some wood too.

Spent time at the beach today and had the wrong hinges again.....so we only got two cabinets installed. I did however get a few hours of sanding in on the large patch below the waterline.

The large pieces on walnut colored wood are from a large shelf we found by a dumpster. We got three pieces all pretty good shape. The size is perfect, I plan to make a table top for our Lagun leg and picked up a few discontinued table hinges from West Marine on clearance.

Not sure what I will do with the third piece but at least I have use for the first two.

I wanted to mention the small hinged door i just put pictures of, the one not yet stained that will cover the stove area. Its from a company called Sea Teak. I think the accurate description is the drawer and frame, picked it up off of ebay awhile back new but opened box deal for maybe 15 bucks. I figured we could make it fit the spot we needed and would be a darn close fit.

Sure enough it was, glad we picked that up. I think its around 7x15 size but could be the larger sizes they offer. But point is it fit nicely and appears to be nice quality.

Not letting Covid19 slow us down. So got the deck fill for the water tank installed finally, not the most beautiful spot but very functional. Straight shot to the tank and also the hose will be hidden behind and protected by the cabinet frame/slat piece. Also, put in a solid oak backer plate for it and epoxied it in.

Did tons of thickened epoxy around window frames, glassed in one of our large salon port lights and then fair over it with epoxy compound. On one side where I had aggressively sanded down down by at least 1/8'' I added some thin plywood underlayment type material to build it back up then epoxied in place and glassed in.

Glassed a few areas of damage near the bow under the waterline. Looks like it had been repaired before but not very well. Ended up having to grind it out beyond the damage (cracks in some sort of filler) and then used glass to build it back up. It came out real nice after it got sanded down.

The bottom is pretty much ready to get final sanding and bottom paint. But before we do that I think I will finish all the grinding on the deck, fair and paint. On the decks we sanded 99 percent of everything just a few more little jobs.

Hello,

The last few days have been busy. Lots of sanding and fairing, laid some fiberglass. We ended up glassing in the bulkhead inside the engine well area. We didn't really like that it was just marine ply. I will glass it from the quarter birth side (inside) as well ASAP.

Then decided to replace the piece of wood the backstay chain plate was mounted too. In the process of removing the four bolts two just snapped off in my hand. Glad we decided to look at them, now we are making new chain plates out of 316L instead of the chromed bronze or whatever they were. Also, wasn't very comfortable with the lack of backing plate on it. Ended up cutting out a significantly larger piece of .25" G10 and epoxied that in place for a backer.

That 316L isn't cheap stuff, got enough for a few extra projects as well. Oh also pulled out a few cleats and replaced them with folding versions from whitecap, hope they are strong enough. Made a few backer blocks for them out of the .25'' G-10 as well and epoxied in place.

Another Columbia 29 owner stopped by and said hello. It looked like he had a young family as well, so maybe we will go for a sail sometime together if we ever get into the water!

Lots more to do, but trying real hard to finish the sanding and painting. Once we get the paint done, barrier coat, bottom job etc. With the whole COVID-19 issue I can work remote as long as I have internet and my computer. So if we could get this going in the next few weeks we could go out for a couple days here and there. Its a dream at least, will see how it shapes up.

Placed an order for a new access hatch into our lazerette area. We have a wood pop out door which works but.....we like this better.

Significantly more weather resistant and secure, also doesn't need the same maintenance as wood.

Getting it done, as quickly as we can. Which means the last few days has been crazy. TONS of sanding in prep for paint and fairing. Got the small hatch frame glassed in. I used tape and ran some along the sides, then once that had setup pretty good did the top. Once those two sat for several hours I trimmed the excess of with a razor blade. Found its much easier than when it fully cures.

Working on dry fitting the head in. Took the seat off in order to determine the correct height. For a C-Head wedge back version in the Columbia 29 the sweet spots is 1.5''. So I am taking three pieces of .5'' marine ply cutting out the shape of the head base and laminating them together. Then mounting the head on top of that and bolting it all securely to the floor in the head locker.

Laid three or four more fillet epoxy joints (if that's the correct way to say it). I will end up glassing in the little frames for the small opening portlights in the hanging and head lockers as well as the v-birth. Other than that I need to glass in the very top of the lewmar 60 hatch. The guy who put it in for us ages ago only glassed in the sides.

Once all that is done, the last glass work will be the inside of the quarter births, oh and the portlight frames within the quarter birth that open into the cockpit. Lots of time for me to do that but we figure it will increase the durability and make them more resistant to water.

We would really like some ideas on bow spirits or little extensions. Not anything crazy but would be fun to have. Anyway, has anyone added anything like that to your boat? Also if anyone has pictures of thoughts on mounting the windlass. If you all added a couple cleats on either side, tips, ticks, advice, etc. I have spent ZERO time at anchor so anything we can glean from the community to make our setup functional and nice looking would be great.

Are you thinking of moving the headstay out farther or you'd just like to have a platform out there? It would be nice to have a seat out there

As soon as I have time and the weather warms up we can get out for some anchoring practice

No not moving the head-stay out farther, just got in our new furler and rolly tasker sail so we're set. Just wanted a platform or seat.

been thinking about that myself for anchor storage if nothing else .
