I always have a sweet spot in my heart for wooden sail boats, especially the ones with sleek lines. But this lady surely seems to be a true siren that calls me to sink into trouble up to my neck and probably higher.

You cant go cruising if you have no boat. If your gonna spend a bunch of cash you might as well get something nice to YOUR eye. Unless she's rotten right through you will have too much fun with her. She looks great.

Ugh. That angle on the forward edge of the doghouse is all wrong, as are the design of the ports. Most of Hoeks newer designs have kept much of this boats shape but the doghouses now sport vertical sides and smaller, more traditional portlights. Even he knew these were ugly. I've seen prettier cats

Sounds like the hull is cold-molded. If you go over to the WoodenBoat forums, there are folks who will tell you that doesn't even count as a wooden boat.

(Though all that interior wood might require a fulltime varnish crew . . .)

I am rebuilding an old wooden boat. However, I eschewed the paid/caulked seams in favor of glued splines and avoided the butt blocks in favor of glued scarfs. I wonder if I am now disqualified?

The flush decks have a certain appeal but seeing only sky from below decks would make me feel isolated. So much seating on all those settees. Looks like a discotheque. Where are the mirror balls?
