I worry about you Nick. The builder says don't worry about the crack but do a cosmetic repair . Ie fill with epoxy putty and pretty up by covering with a bit of glass and paint. That is NNT structural. As I said a cosmetic repair if you are worried about the look of the crack and just keep on sailing.no further damage is going to result from cracked joinery.
