Newbie in Perth

I've just got myself a Redwitch 6m in Perth. If there's anyone on this forum from Perth, I need a whole lot of information:

1. Is there a forum just for Perth?
2. Is there a Redwitch user's group or something? I haven't got a clue how to rig it.
3. Where do I get information about regulations, protocols and etiquette for sailing on the Swan?

Thanks in advance

Re: Newbie in Perth

Welcome.
The Red Witch is a local (Perth in West Oz) boat, of which over 200 were built, mainly in the seventies. Cruisers Forum is an international forum, and I would say that is no sub group for the 'witches'. As far as I know there is no sub group for Perth sailors either, although there about 10 (that I know) WA members on this forum.

Here is some info on your boat:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Witch
https://sailboat.guide/hill-cameron/red-witch-19

Contact any of the sailing clubs, ie South of Peth yacht club, for information, but I think in most sailing clubs in WA there are a few witches, not all being raced though.

Yes, there is certainly some etiquette involved in sailing, but more importantly, there are rules. It looks you do not have a skippers ticket, otherwise you would know the basic rules. Here is a link to a rulebook used for the RST course https://www.transport.wa.gov.au/medi..._Workbook7.pdf

BTW, if your boat has an engine (larger than 6 HP/4.5 KW) then you need a RST, recreational skipper's ticket.

Visit one of the sailing clubs to get info on rigging, but really, if you are not racing, then anyone with sailing experience might be able to help you.

Have a look at "Seabreeze" forums.
