The idea of indulging my
marine dreams has never been on an ultrayacht. What I get my kicks doing is making the decisions about course, sail trim, reef or set, sail choice, reading
charts,
anchor site, etc. etc. I guess it’s the “being in charge” thing. The owners of these super yachts can certainly tell the
captain when and where they want to go. But if the
captain says it’s unsafe, do they go anyway, at risk of the captain’s and crew’s dismissal? Sure, the dinner selctions can be dictated, and probably the entertainment. But really, other than the whim of
destination, the experience doesn’t seem much different than an extra high-end
cruise ship. Which sounds terminally boring.
