Re: Identify Old Sailboat ?

Does the boat have a “Hull Identification Number” (HIN) on the upper starboard corner of the transom?
If so, the first three digits are the “Manufacturers Identification Code” (MIC)

Looks almost like an early Cal 24, when they were still Jensen Marine.

Re: Identify Old Sailboat ?

Welcome aboard!
It is not a Southcoast 25 or a Catalina 25 or a MacGregor so if anyone else has a productive suggestion I think the OP would like input.
Sometimes its good to post your location because many boats don't get too far from their origins and are easily identifiable to locals.
This boat has a rather squarish cabin top so that could be a point of identification.
kind regards,

Re: Identify Old Sailboat ?

In the USA, hull identification numbers came into being around the time of the passage of the Motorboat Act (1972). Some manufacturers were slow in adopting them and some had identifying information in somewhat non-standard places -- in cubbyholes, on the back side of bulkheads, etc. And, it's possible that a HIN on an older boat, even if it were placed on the starboard outside transom, could have been painted over or obscured. In more modern times, it is also possible that a manufacturer might have placed a duplicate HIN or other identifying information in another, semi-"secret" place.

It might be of some benefit to get more pictures posted.

Re: Identify Old Sailboat ?

1961 CAL Jensen CAL 24 sailboat for sale in New Jersey has a photo of an old Cal Jensen 24. It looks similar to yours but I don't know if they had a swing keel version.
kind regards,

It was a joke. I'm a retired teacher and had heard of McGuffey readers, which of course started with a "primer." They date back to the 19th century. Given that it was an old boat ... I was just very naughty.

Maybe it is just a homebuilt, a one off. Could you post more pictures from different angles and some of the interior too? That may help us in indentifying it for you.
