Re: Help with getting my monohull onto its hydrafoil

Did you forget to pull up the anchor? Everything else checks out so check that the anchor is not dragging.

Kiwis, How many Kiwis on your crew ? Seems like those foiling boats always have a couple guys with funny accents, they don't even need to be sailors, bicyclists seem to serve.

Re: Help with getting my monohull onto its hydrafoil

Hey guys thanks for the advise. I just got off the phone to my ol mate Kim Jong. He said he had plenty of rocket boosters in stock but none excess to his requirements, something about big celebration coming up with trump. Done a hull inspection and found I was dragging an anchor, a couple in fact and they attached to the smaller boats I must have passed by too close when parking up from the pub last night. Adding another spin bike today and got some Lycra so wish me luck

Oracle could be selling some deeply discounted 2017 parts to generate revenue while going back to the drawing board...

Add another hull. All the big foilers I've seen actually flying have two hulls..........

Has the flux capacitor been recently calibrated?

If you are thinking about Williwaw, from what I can recall she in fact didn't foil on passages. She could foil on reaches in protected water.

Great boat, though.

C'mon guys, you are missing the obvious. The boat needs electric propulsion and more batteries, lots more batteries!

Perhaps instead of trying to foil, you should go underwater like Thunderbird 4. It is good for 40 Kts on the surface but 160 kts submerged. The only concern is that it seems to be a pretty wet cockpit and I am not sure a bimini will be of much use. Also, I'm pretty sure that you could never get the scuppers big enough to keep the cockpit dry.

Definitely more batteries. Don't forget solar panels. Lots of them. Maybe install some on the keel that way it will help get you up on plane. Not sure whether in serial or parallel, maybe do both to be on the safe side.

The problem is not the foil or the method...you simply have too much weight on the boat. Dump all that uneeded safety gear, and unload your gold bullion into the dumpster at the marina. And hey, I didn't want to say anything, but the crew could stand to miss a few meals...if you know what I mean.

The problem is that you live in a simulation. You have to find a way to communicate with the giant child whose toy you are and convince him to pull the string a little harder.
