Gib'Sea 35 Master (Gibert Marine) Questions

Hi,

today I looked at a very nice Gib'Sea 35 Master (build 1991) but (as always) there is a caveat. Plenty of spider cracks on deck around the stanchions and in the chainplate area. And the inner liner (vinyl or whatever) is hanging down in certain places. Best case: minor optical damage, worst case: moisture in the deck.

Is anybody familiar with the boat / has similar issues? Is it a Balsa Core?

I'm torn, it's maybe the best boat I looked at so far. So now the buying anxiety (dunno if the term exists) is kicking in.

Thanks, Andi

PS: Images are uploading, crappy wifi, will post a link soon.

and another question: Has anybody made a tiller conversion / was the wheel maybe optional? At least there is an emergency tiller, so it should not be too difficult, just wondering if the upper bearings are made for constant use...

I have a Gibsea 422, made 1991.
Extremely strong seaworthy boat.

Re: Gib'Sea 35 Master (Gibert Marine) Questions

had a 106 on the base in early 90s & remember:
no-nonsense boat
keelbolt-nuts laminated over
water in the core around deckfiller, balsa around the hole of snot-consistency
