Quite a list you linked here by the way. I wonder which of these are still manufactured brand new...

I dont know, been far too long. But I would guess you can get a fully equipped well founded 45 footer for less and cruise at 8 knots for the price of a completed Cape George and cruise at 5 knots!
But then they are superbly aesthetically pleasing boats!

Re: Full Keel Sailboats

Someone already posted a link to Atom Voyages. That was such a great resource to me. I ended up with a Columbia 29, not found very often but beautiful by my eye. Al old Sparkman and Stephens design, hard to go wrong with anything from the drawing boards of S&S.

The style of boat your are seeking paired with size should be easily located for almost nothing. The trick as some have mentioned is one with an acceptable amount of work to get it where you are comfortable. We took on lots of glass work on the decks and re did the interior but when she is complete we will have a like new classic 60's era boat. A friend of ours has one a few hours up the coast and and another from up in Washington state, they just sail wonderfully.

Best of luck locating one, the full or 3/4 keel boats are so robust it seems and generally beautiful as well.

TY for sharing this. Your boat is a real gem. I'd like to kindly ask how much you've spent on your boat - total cost with repairs and such.

Re: Full Keel Sailboats

I've just browsed through Yachtworld.com and utilized its search engine for the boats that my new friends here recommended; I've come across numerous options. This will be easier than I thought, I 'hope.' I guess I'll just need luck. I've even decided to start from the boats of the 90s as the earliest, some reasonable prices from the late 90s era...

Ten years ago or so the 31' was $400k. I got a bare hull for a tiny fraction of that and was cruising three years and less than $80k later all told.
I did 99% of the work, though.

I don't believe any of them are still manufactured, but I haven't check all 72.

Actually, you really don't need a new one.

I paid $2,000 for my Bristol 27 in 2011, and it's as tough as they come.

Check out the total beast of a keel it has.

Re: Full Keel Sailboats

And btw just so you know what an old full keel (cutaway) can do, this guy sailed his old Bristol 27 he bought for $1,000 about 3/4 of the way around the world.

So how much you spend is entirely up to you.

It seems some folks though want to spend lots of money on a boat when you actually don't need to at all.

The same goes for your electronics/instruments if you have some basic computer skills. See link below.
