Early 2000s Bavaria 50 ?

The hunt for an acceptable < $200K cruising boat continues...

We seek a solid, reliable and safe 3 cabin boat in the 50' range for long term family live aboard and cruising. I have looked at a number of boats including older boats but most of the older heavier and more traditionally built vessels in our price range also come with a mountain of maintenance issues related to age. They are also extremely difficult to finance.

This has lead me to broadening the search. An early 2000's Bavaria 50 has caught my eye. I like the layout and equipment and price...

Trouble is, I know nothing about these boats and google has not been all that helpful. PLEASE - any first hand knowledge relative to construction methods, build quality, known issues or things to consider is greatly appreciated!

Get a good survey. Mine said the layup and structure was one of the best he’s seen in any boat. I guess it depends on whether it was an owner or charter boat, but a 3 cabin is probably an owner version. There were a number of options available when new, and if the original owner wasn’t on a tight budget you could end up with a very nice boat. Link to advert?

We love our Bavaria. It's a well made production boat.

Whenever I’m researching a new purchase I stick “problems” on the search line.

Here’s B50 problems return https://www.google.com/search?client...30.rlmT-LfPJ9Q

You can broaden the scope to all Bavaria with an assumption that there are flaws common to many models https://www.google.com/search?client...60.93pLPL-_fRM

Find out which engine it has and do the same.

Well sorry links didn’t paste in right but you get the idea.
