Choosing a Transducer

Hello All,
My yacht has been a 41/2 year restoration project and is on the hard, but soon to be launched.

I haven't chosen a depth sounder (or chart plotter) yet, but would like to get a thru hull transducer installed before she goes in.

Are there transducers that work with most sounders, that I could install now and hook up to the reader later?

Thanks for your feedback,
Stephen

Re: Choosing a Transducer

Most of the transducers are made by Airmar and then relabeled by the various marine electroniv companies.
Take a look at the DST810 teiducer.

Paul is correct. Should get a blank as well for when you need to remove the transducer for cleaning or haulout. Be sure to remember to install where it will not be hit by haulout straps, and the flatter the area of install, the more accurate the speed will read.
