Buying a Pearson 34

Hi everyone,

I am in the process of buying a 1984 Pearson 34. I have my survey and sea trial next week. I'm very excited. I would love to hear from other P34 owners. I'll probably come back with some questions once I get my hands on it.

If anyone happens to have a manual in a digital form they are willing to share that would be great too.

John

Congrats John!
1 of the two happiest days of the proverbial sailors' life is approaching!

We have a P39, 1975 model & hull #72. There's a world of difference between ours' & Your soon to be acquisition, however Bill Shaw designed and built absolutely Fabulous Vessels! You WILL Be pleased with both the looks esthetically inside and out, and most importantly HOW She Sails! Ours as a vintage 'racer/cruiser' maintaining IOR & PHRF #'s that worked while adding in enough 'creature comforts' to keep the 'non-speed racer' types, and families enjoying extended cruises. It's EASY to make 100nm in sunlit hrs, and we've done 200 more times than can be counted in 24hrs. You will never be disappointed with a well made boat; starting w/"good bones" is the ticket. Don't worry about electronics, what they have You'll likely want to replace. It'll (electronics) be Your likely most expensive upgrades after purchase so pay close attention to that survey & Make sure the Surveyor verifies integrity on all those components.
HTH,
-Mick

All the best.

What engine?

Have you looked online for a Pearson "group?"

Re: Buying a Pearson 34

Hey thanks everyone.
I had the survey today and she passed with flying colors!

The engine is a yanmar 21 hp diesel.
Runs like a charm. Comes with Garmin GPS and radar.

Clean clean clean. No hull issues. Minor water intrusion in a few spots on deck. Nice sail set with Dutchman flaking for main and roller Genoa.

Very exciting indeed.

Thanks for the kind words.
